Wet air from the compressor aftercooler enters the dryer and is directed into one of the columns \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e(Column A)\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\" style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003e.  Air passes through the desiccant bed where moisture vapor is ADsorbed (not ABsorbed). The dry air then passes through a particle filter that retains desiccant particles. All this sounds super-scientific, and it is, but it works and fascinates me. Simultaneously, a small amount of dry air is counter-flowed down through \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cb data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003ecartridge B \u003c\/b\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\" style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003eand exhausted into the atmosphere, removing the moisture and regenerating the desiccant.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\" style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003eThese dryers are controlled by a PLC (programmable logic controller), which will periodically switch the solenoid valves, reversing the function of each column and ensuring the continuous supply of dry air. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\" style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003eDon’t be intimidated by all of this; just trust me and know that I’ve seen it first hand, and it works exceptionally well.
