Decon Cleaning Matte Paint
Matte paint isn't anything to be too scared of. You can treat it basically the same as gloss paint, just be careful of scratches. It may not scratch any easier necessarily, but you will not be able to fix scratches through machine polishing. You'll first want to wash your matte car like normally, Koch Chemie GSF has worked fine for us on matte paint. Once the car is washed and dried you need to start the decon step. It's best to use a product like Dr. Beasley's Matte Decon to get any contamination off your matte paint without possibly abrading the paint with a clay bar. This chemical sits on the paint for 30 seconds to a minute and you'll wipe away with a microfiber towel. Do this section by section until your whole care is decontaminated.
Coating Your Matte Paint
Matte paints should really use a coating that's specially formulated for them to avoid possibly adding gloss to your matte paint. We carry two solutions from Dr. Beasley's for coating matte paint. If you want a cheaper and easier installation look into their regular coating Dr. Beasley's Matte Paint Coating, if you want a more advanced and longer lasting coating look into the Dr. Beasley's Matte Paint Coating Pro. Make sure you follow the instruction on the products pages exactly or you can possibly ruin your matte paint (There's no polishing a coating off of matte paint, so either know what you're doing or have a professional do it for you).
Maintaining Your Matte Coating
Once your matte paint is coated you should really maintain if properly with matte specific products. Every 3 months or so you should apply some AdvancedCoat Matte to your matte coating to help extend it's life expectancy and keep the coating properties fresh. If you want to remove some small contaminates like bird droppings or insect splatter look into using the Dr. Beasley's Matte Paint Cleanser, think of this like Opti-Clean for matte paint. It will help you clean up any little mistakes on your paint and will also restore on the the matte appearance! For washing the coated car you can use Koch Chemie GSF or the Dr. Beasley's Matte Waterless Wash for lightly soiled paint.
